Our vision is to build a new community swimming pool in Livingston.
The Idea
A new community owned, public swimming pool with a cafe and other spaces to become a social hub within the town.
In addition to this, the pool would be home to Livingston Swimming Club, other swimming groups and somewhere to hold swim meets and competitions. The pool will also be made available for swimming lessons and inflatable fun sessions.
It would be built with the latest energy efficient technology to ensure it can be run as cheaply as possible. Furthermore, the plan is to install enough solar panels to provide energy, not only to run the pool, but to put back into the national grid, therefore helping Scotland with our net zero targets.
It will also be community owned, ensuring all profits are reinvested back into the pool and local community.

Scottish Swimming strongly believes that swimming pools are vital community hubs for the population of Scotland. They not only provide ‘water safety classrooms’ teaching more than 100,000 children each week the essential life skill of learning to swim, but as part of the nation’s health service – improving mental and physical wellbeing for all ages and abilities which in turn saved the NHS £2.4 billion in 2022.

Building a swimming pool can cost anywhere between £3 million and £8 million, including the pool, cafe and other spaces.
